Gordon’s Food Service

Aug 29 2011

I am always explaining about how amazing it is to experience free food at the big box clubs. There is nothing better than shopping while sampling delicious foods that are sold within the store. I get excited as if it is Christmas morning every time I round a corner and there is another sample station. I am completely disappointed when it is a food that I don’t like or something that I just have no interest in.

Foolishness!

Aug 25 2011

I find it to be  disgusting when the wealthy spend astronomical sums of money on foolishness. I understand that they are wealthy and, for the most part, they worked hard to earn their money. However, when they are spending enough money on a bottle of champagne to buy a home with, it makes me furious. I have tried expensive champagne (although not as expensive as those featured in the article) and yes, it is delicious. But, it is certainly not delicious enough to spend $275,000.00 on! Imagine spending that kind of money and the bottle is empty in a couple of hours!

Bacon Corn Sauce With Scallops

Aug 24 2011

Sometimes it is nice to have a kind of fancy and unique meal for when you are going to be having company. It is nice to wow them with something that they have never had before, especially when it’s delicious. This is not a frugal meal, as scallops are expensive, but it is fine to splurge every once in a while!

Fight for Your Money!

Aug 23 2011

I moved not too long ago and I’ve been meaning to share a good lesson in reading the fine print and ensuring that companies stand behind what they say. I know that we have all been in situations in which there is some sort of pricing difference that the company attributes to an error because it is in their favor. How frustrating is that? There are ways to handle those situations!

Cell Phones for Kids

Aug 22 2011

My son has had a cell phone since he was 8. Not because I wanted him to be able to look cool in front of his friends, but because I like the idea of being able to reach him whenever he is not in my line of vision. He likes to play outside with his friends and I shuddered at the thought of him leaving the spot directly in front of my front door. A cell phone was the perfect solution to that problem because he could check in frequently and I could check on him whenever I needed to.

School Lunch: Packing vs. Buying

Aug 18 2011

Sometimes what seems like the cheaper option isn’t necessarily cheaper. There are some instances where the easier option is actually cheaper. However, I am sometimes guilty of taking the hard way simply because I think it will be cheaper, until I really think about it.

Hidden Cheeseburgers

Aug 17 2011

My son is not quite a little boy anymore, although he will always be MY little boy! When he was younger, I cooked all kinds of creative recipes to try to get him to enjoy dinner. He has never been much of an eater and I have fought with him every day of his twelve years to get him to eat substantial meals. This was a meal that he enjoyed and he could also help with parts of the preparation!

It’s Time For New Clothes!

Aug 16 2011

I’ve been losing a lot of weight recently (I’ve lost 26 pounds in 4 months) and because of the weight loss, my clothes are starting to fall off of me. Although losing weight is fantastic, finding yourself without flattering clothes to wear is not so fantastic. It makes me wish that I had kept everything that I have ever outgrown. But, that just isn’t feasible, especially since I am so prone to moving frequently. Who wants to lug all of those clothes around?
