We all make new year’s resolutions that we fail to keep. We promise to work out, to diet or to quit smoking. Some of our resolutions are difficult to keep, but saving money is not a difficult endeavor and it is one that can be done little by little. Here are some resolutions you can make to learn to live more frugally.
News…
I have to take yet another break from the blog. Although I will still be posting blogs from time to time, I won’t be posting my regular, every weekday blogs. I am nearly finished with my Bachelor’s degree and I am finding it progressively more challenging to make time for work, school, my son and the blog. Once I can eliminate school from the equation, I know that I can truly dedicate more of my time to my blog. I participate in my commencement on October 1st, but I am not completely finished with my classes until November 14th. Until then, I will post whenever I find the time.
It’s Free!
Getting free stuff is as easy as keeping your eyes and ears open! I have already talked about how great of a tool Facebook is to learn about freebies. The most important thing about finding freebies is to make sure that you share the info. I always try to repost anything that is an incredible deal.
Veggie Stuffed Shells
It is always nice when you can sneak a variety of vegetables into your meal. Especially since the only side vegetable my son will eat is salad. However, if the vegetable is cooked into a meal he doesn’t seem to mind. I don’t necessarily have to hide them in meals, I just have to make sure that they are mixed with enough different things that he doesn’t mind the flavor. This is one of those recipes that he will happily eat without complaining about the vegetables.
Camping?
I am going camping for the very first time next weekend. I have never been the outdoorsy type, but I am always willing to try something new…at least once! The idea arose on an evening when I had a friend and her husband over to spend time with my beau and me. They have all had a lot of experience camping and being outdoors in general. At the time, it seemed like a great idea and my friend decided to get the camp site booked before I could change my mind. She knew that if something is already paid for, I will not cancel and risk money being lost!
Friends Help Friends
A friend of mine is currently undergoing chemotherapy. It is a trying time for her and, naturally, her friends and family are trying to be as supportive as possible. When someone is going through something so difficult, it is important to be there as a friend. Every individual has a different way that they can be supportive. The easiest way for me to help is to cook. So, that’s what I’m doing for her. I know that she will be tired and cooking would be taxing for her. Another of her friends and I decided to cook for her and to trade off weeks so that she will always have home cooked meals available.
Salsa Chicken
I love a recipe that is easy to put together and easy to clean up! It is an extra plus if it is also delicious and my son will eat it! It is an added bonus if the ingredients are items that I typically have around the house. I am very good at planning ahead, but every now and then I find myself scrambling at the last minute. No matter how prepared I am , I always have an evening like that every now and then!
Family Time
It is often difficult to keep the kids entertained when you are on a tight budget. However, it is not fair to keep them cooped up without any activities simply because there is not a lot of disposable income available. But, there are many activities that are available that cost very little or are completely free. Here are five of them:
